A reversal of an earlier ruling by the Allegany County Zoning Appeals board has revitalized a plan to put 17 windmills on Dan’s Mountain.

Darlene Park represents the ANCHOR group, which represents residents and other opponents of the project.  She says the next move won’t be known until her group has an opportunity to review the official rationale of the zoning board…

Why does no one complain about the telephone and utility poles that line every street and highway? We grew up with them, they are ubiquitous.
Why does no one complain about cell towers stuck up on top of every hill and mountain and open field? They serve us in our addiction to our phones.
No one sees any benefit to windmills as we already have electricity and see no benefit from them.
The more of them there are the less they will be seen and noticed.
We need increased capacity and yet keep bills down, renewable energy is how it’s done.

    Mac, Very well said!

Can we get Ed to tell us what the proper distance for windmills to be kept from from homes is and why he believes this is necessary?
