Annual Downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Today

November 29th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The annual downtown Cumberland Christmas tree lighting is a holiday tradition held the day after Thanksgiving. The entire downtown lights up when the mayor flips on the switch and Santa can be seen waving to the crowds from the rooftop. The tree lighting begins at 6:30 p.m. and features music, open houses, coach rides and visits with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss calls it a tremendous family/community event that grows in popularity every year…

This allows decent folks to make their one annual visit to the downtown mall in which they can get out of their cars and are in sufficient numbers to feel safe from the regular denizens of downtown.
