Annual Legislative Wrap-Up Held

Nothing new was reported, but a thorough breakdown of the just completed 2014 Maryland General Assembly session was presented Tuesday morning during the Allegany Chamber of Commerce annual legislative wrap-up breakfast program at the Ali Ghan Shrine Club. State Senate George Edwards along with Delegates Kevin Kelly and Wendell Beitzel detailed some of the more notable new laws. Delegate Leroy Myers, who has opted not to seek another term, was unable to attend. One of the more hotly debated bills went down to the wire this year- an increase in the state’s minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by 2018. Senator Edwards said the wage hike will create some unique problems for border counties such as Allegany and Garrett….
