Area students participate in National School Walkout Day

March 14th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County High Schools participated in Wednesday’s National School Walkout Day, promoting school safety, protesting gun violence and encouraging acts of kindness. At Allegany High School, hundreds gathered in the school gymnasium, with 17 empty desks set in the middle of the gym floor to remember those killed in Florida a month ago today.

Similar ceremonies were held at Fort Hill, Mountain Ridge, and the Center for Career and Technical Education. Activities will continue Thursday with the Allegany County Association of Student Councils hosting a mental health forum from 6 to 8 pm at the Career Center.
