Arrest Made In Bel Air Animal Case

On Saturday 8/23/14, Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office located and arrested Christopher Adam Preston (28 years old, formerly of Bel Air) at a residence on Ramblewood Dr. in LaVale. Following an investigation by the Sheriff's Office, assisted by personnel from the Animal Shelter, into the discovery of twelve (12) dogs in a vacant home on McGill Dr, in Bel Air, nine (9) of which were deceased, charges were filed on 8/22/14 resulting in an arrest warrant being issued for Preston charging him with eight (8) counts of aggravated cruelty to animals five (5) counts of animal cruelty, failure to provide, and five (5) counts of animal cruelty. Following an inital appeance in District Court, Preston was ordered held on $8,500.00 and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center.
 

On 8/14/14, Officers from the Animal Shelter, along with Deputies from the Sheriff's Office responded to 14707 McGill Dr. in Bel Air in response to complaints made from neighbors about several dogs left in a vacant home for approximately six (6) to eight (8) weeks. Animal Shelter Officers discovered nine (9) dogs deceased throughout the house and three (3) dogs still alive; those dogs were transported to Mountain View Veterinary Services in Keyser, treated for dehydration, starvation and anemia due to flea infestation. Two (2) of the nine (9) dogs found deceased were also transported to Mountain View Veterinary Services where tests were performed to determine the cause, and approximate time, of death. The investigation is on going and additional charges are pending.
