Arrest Made in Door to Door Solicitation Investigation

On Tuesday February 21, 2017, Cumberland City Police served an Allegany County Circuit Court warrant on Jesse Lease, age 30 of Cumberland, Maryland. The warrant was issued as a result of Lease failing to appear for trial on February 14, 2017 for a violation of probation hearing. At the time of arrest Lease was found to be in possession of small amount of marihuana which he was additionally cited for. Lease was held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center. Jesse Lease, age 30. Cumberland, Maryland. CHARGES: Fail to Appear, Possession of Marihuana-less than 10 grams.

ATTEMPTED THEFT

On Tuesday February 21, 2017, Cumberland City Police officers responded to the 300 block of Fisher Drive for a suspicious complaint. Investigation into this matter revealed that Aaron Long, age 37, was going door to door soliciting residents for money to pay for a tow company to tow his vehicle. Long was located in his vehicle, which was in operating condition. Long was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served. He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and was released on his personal recognizance pending trial. Aaron Long, age 37. Cumberland, Maryland. CHARGES: Attempted Theft, Disorderly Conduct, False Statement, Disturbing the Peace, Obstructing and Hindering.
