The cable company that serves the greater Cumberland area has been purchased by a Canadian firm. Atlantic Broadband LLC, entered into a stock purchase agreement in July with Cogeco Cable Inc. of Montreal, according to a letter received by the City of Cumberland where Atlantic Broadband has a cable franchise. A statement from Atlantic's general counsel Bartlett Leber indicates that the change in ownership does not affect the management or operations of the cable system, nor will it change rates and services. As a result of the transaction, the Cumberland Mayor and City Council is required to adopt a resolution granting the transfer for the local operation. City Administrator Jeff Rhodes.
