Backroom Politics Appear To Be DelFest Contract Sticking Points

With talks of a long term contract now off the table- negotiations between Allegany County and DelFest representatives that were once described as going smoothly may have hit a snag. Indications are talks are being bogged down with backroom politics with the future role of former tourism director Barb Buehl a major sticking point. Sources close to the situation say it appears to be a case of Commissioners Jake Shade and Creade Brodie Jr. not interested in creating a new county paid position for Buehl- while Commissioner Bill Valentine and the DelFest representatives support keeping her on in a liaison capacity.  Commissioner Shade has told WCBC News that he has reached out to DelFest business agent Stan Strictland on several occasions to clear the air- but that has gotten nowhere.
