Baltimore Man Sentenced In Allegany County Drug Case

On August 16, 2016, Bernard Albert Barnes, 39, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute CDS, specifically heroin, in the Circuit Court for Allegany County.

The Honorable Jeffrey S. Getty, Circuit Court Judge for Allegany County, sentenced Barnes to 20 years’ incarceration in the Maryland Department of Corrections, eight of which will be suspended. Upon Barnes’ release, he will be on supervised probation. The case was the result of a search and seizure warrant conducted by members of the C3I Narcotics Unit in the 800 block of Columbia Avenue in May, 2015. A search of the residence revealed drugs, specifically heroin, and other evidentiary items, indicating drug distribution.

The state was represented by Assistant State’s Attorney Samuel J. Lane. The defendant was represented by David Schram, of the Public Defender’s Office.
