With citizens asking once again this week about the status of the Washington Street CSX bridge- Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes announced publicly for the first time that the city has a more serious concern- the Baltimore Street bridge. A main artery into the downtown area, Rhodes said the bridge was determined to be in "poor condition" following a recent Allegany County inspection of Baltimore Street- which revealed serious problems with the bridge. He said its not a new issue, as the bridge had begun to deteriorate from as far back as the 1980s however due to the bleak fiscal picture at that time, nothing could be done to address the problems
