March 29th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports a Barton man arrested recently after allegedly holding his girlfriend captive and assaulting her for several days is now charged in the same case by Garrett County authorities. John Edward Beeman, 56, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Tuesday on charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, kidnapping and firearm charges. He remained jailed without bond Thursday at the Garrett Count Detention Center following bail review in district court.

The charges stemmed from an alleged incident that occurred March 20 in Garrett County, not far from the Beeman Road residence in Barton where the Allegany County incident occurred.

The victim was rescued from the Beeman Road residence the evening of March 20 when Allegany County deputies responded there for a well-being check.

The victim was found with significant physical trauma, police said, and taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

At the same time, deputies arrested Beeman, who was found hiding in an attic of the residence where the victim was located.

In Allegany County, Beeman was charged with attempted murder, assault, kidnapping and weapon charges. He was released from custody after posting $50,000 bond.

At the time of his arrest, numerous firearms, including some that were loaded, were seized from the home, police said.

The incident also led to the arrest of Misty Shay Vinci, Beeman’s daughter, on the same charges.

Vinci was charged in an arrest warrant served March 21. She was subsequently released from the Allegany County Detention Center after posting bond of $5,000.

The charges against Beeman and Vinci related to alleged offenses that occurred at the Beeman Road residence between March 17 and 20, according to court documents.

The charges were filed through investigation by the Allegany county Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the C3I Unit.
