Bear Hunt Sets Maryland Record

The Maryland DNR is reporting record numbers for the recently concluded Black Bear hunting season. 95 bruins were harvested during the season, with 80 checked in Garrett County and another 15 in Allegany County. The average weight of the bears was 166 pounds, and just over 60 percent of the bears were taken on private lands. About 1200 hunters participated.
