State Police in Pennsylvania report that a Bedford County man was killed in a work-related accident Monday in Somerset County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Jared Glenn Ritchey, 32, of Everett was pronounced dead at the scene following the 2:10 p.m. mishap that occurred at Park Street in Ursina. Ritchey was part of a crew installing large, heavy, concrete manhole forms when one of the forms became dislodged and pinned him. Police said the victim’s co-workers took heroic steps in an effort to save his life by freeing him using a crane to life the concrete form and then beginning CPR until first responders arrived. However, Ritchey was pronounced dead at the scene and the manner of death was determined to be accidental. The exact cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy.
