Bernard Comments on Slowed Drug Interdiction Program Locally

Maryland State Police spokesperson Greg Shipley reports that drug interdiction efforts undertaken by the Western Maryland Major Traffickers Initiative is having a positive effect in slowing drug trafficking in the region.  The state police program is aimed at stemming the tide of drugs into Washington, Allegany, Garrett and Frederick counties.  Cumberland City Councilman Seth Bernard says he believes those efforts could be even more successful if the City Police Department became more involved. Saying that he has spoken to several police officers recently, indications are that the drug interdiction program on the city level has waned in recent years…
