The Allegany County Board of Education and the Blue Ribbon Commission held a public forum Tuesday night to discuss redistricting proposals. The Commission is recommending the closure of Georges Creek and Parkside Elementary Schools. Chris Hodges of the Commission said that while teaching staff would likely be maintained at present levels money savings come from support staff cuts and building maintenance.

Lavale resident Kari Cunningham objected to the idea of closing Parkside and then shipping students to Cash Valley.
