Board of Education lends a helping hand to Allegany College’s Soccer Program

August 29th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Months of rainy weather almost left Allegany College of Maryland’s soccer program defeated before the season’s start. Without a home playing field fit for competition, Allegany County Public Schools Superintendent David Cox and the Board of Education graciously granted permission to ACM Soccer for the use of artificial turf fields at two of its stadiums.

Allegany College of Maryland’s home field, which is currently natural grass, will be resurfaced during the 2018-2019 academic year.

ACM’s soccer team, under the leadership of Head Coach Rob Taylor, will host CCBC Catonsville for its home opener of the 2018 season on Sept. 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Miner's Stadium in Frostburg. All ACM home soccer matches are open to the public with no admission fee.

ACM’s home match schedule follows:

  • Sept. 13 vs. CCBC Catonsville, 5 p.m. at Mountain Ridge High School
  • Sept. 18 vs. Cecil College, 5 p.m. at Mountain Ridge High School
  • Sept. 25 vs. Hagerstown CC, 5 p.m. at Mountain Ridge High School
  • Oct. 2 vs. Harford CC, 4 p.m. at Fort Hill High School
  • Oct. 11 vs. Westmorland College, 5 p.m. at Mountain Ridge High School
  • Oct. 13 vs. CCBC Essex, 1 p.m. at Fort Hill High School
  • Oct. 18 vs. Potomac State College, 4 p.m. at Fort Hill High School.
