Board Of Education May Be Late Delivering Annual Financial Audit To Commissioners

October 28th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

There are indications that once again the Board of Education could be late in delivering its annual financial audit to the Allegany County Commissioners- and this time there may be some consequences. The school board was nearly a year late filing its 2018 audit. Due Sept. 30, the 2018 audit was not delivered to the county until mid July.  The board has been late in submitting it’s audit to the commissioners several times in recent years- and at a late July meeting, Jake Shade, president of the Allegany County Board of Commissioners, issued a warning…

School Board member Tammy Fraley told WCBC News Friday that to her knowledge the audit has not yet been completed- noting that there have been some extenuating circumstances…

The Board of Education receives roughly 30% of its annual funding from the county, which requires the board to submit an annual audit to the county.

And yet the 3 stooges wanted to give someone who had no building level administrative experience an annual $150,000 salary and benefits package after 2 months as an interim superintendent. The board needs to bring in someone who will clean most of the central office administration out. The commissioners should ask the state to appoint an entire new board of education given its lack of oversight and accountability to ensure that the audit be completed on time. The commissioners must hold the board accountable without sanctioning the students.

Tammy Fraley won’t be able to say the dog ate it. She used that excuse last year.

Surely the ‘Three Amigos’ have taken steps to correct this problem. What could possibly go wrong?
