Board of Education No Longer Part of Allconet

July 15th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

By the end of the month, the Allegany County Board of Education will no longer be a part of Allconet. That information was presented to the school board during yesterday’s work session.  The county seems ready to make it a clean break in information technology services, as it will be removing or relocating any necessary equipment from school system facilities.

The schools will be using fiber through an agreement with the State of Maryland, with the final of several facilities obtaining access through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. Board officials indicated that they did not request the removal of the equipment, but that it was a county government choice.
