Board of Education Outlines School Security Plan

April 11th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education this week outlined specifics of its evolving plan for enhanced school security.  The plan was presented by Robert Farrell, the board’s coordinator of safety, security and risk management, which recommends the use of five armed off-duty state troopers, who would not be in uniform but could use their cruisers. Estimated cost for the additional security would be about $300,000 annually. Board member Mike Llewellyn, who initiated the discussion on the need for additional security measures back in March, said he fully supports the idea of utilizing off duty police officers.
