Board of Education Votes to Appoint Blank as Permanent Superintendent

October 9th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

In a stunning development Tuesday night, the Allegany County Board of Education voted 3-2 to appoint interim superintendent Jeff Blank as the permanent superintendent, opting not to conduct a search. Blank was named interim just two months ago replacing Dr David Cox who resigned to take a position in Tennessee. The action occured moments after board member Tammy Fraley advocated that a national search be conducted and that community meetings be held prior to any final decisions. At that time board vice president David Bohn praised the early performance of Blank, pointed to the cost of conducting a national search and made a motion that Blank be given a four year contract. Board president Robert Farrell agreed…

Board member Deb Frank said she is stunned to see the majority board want to move forward without even so much as posting the position…

Member Tammy Fraley sided with Frank saying that the Farrell, Bohn and Wayne Foote are choosing to ignore the wishes of the community…

With board attorney Mike Llewellyn noting that there is nothing legally that requires the position be advertised, the board voted 3-2 to appoint Blank as permanent superintendent.

As contentious and quarrelsome as ever.
Let this be an omen to Mr. Blank showing the kind of cooperation and respect he will receive in his new position as Board President.

It’s possible that if Jeff sides with Deb and Tammy on an issue the 3 stooges will want to place him back on interim status and do a nationwide search.
