Board Releases Statement Correcting Foote’s Comments

In response to comments made during a recent interview with Allegany County Board of Education member Wayne Foote on WCBC Radio-  the board has issued a press release to correct what they say are inaccurate statements made by Foote.  The release notes that the current fund balance is $3.4 million and not at the $2.2 million level Foote claimed. In addition the release notes that the board used $3.7 million to cover health care costs, and not the $4 million figure referenced by Foote. The fund balance issue has been a hot topic in recent days with a former county administrator saying the school board was ill advised to utilize reserve funds for operational expenses.
