Board Seeking Contractors for Sacred Heart Demolition

The Allegany County Board of Education received an update on the bid process underway for demolition of the former Sacred Heart Hospital. Located on Haystack Mountain, the former hospital will be razed to clear the way for the construction of the new $41 million Allegany High that officials hope to open in the fall of 2017. The board is asking for contractors who are interested in razing the former hospital complex, as well as performing site preparation work, to submit their bids by 1:30 p.m. on May 13.  Vince Montana, director of facilities for the board, said that a a pre-bid conference for the representatives of interested contractors and the project architects and engineers was held Tuesday afternoon in the former hospital front lobby. Montana said initial interest has been strong and that bodes well for getting a reasonable bid price for the project…
