Board’s Health Care Budget Healthier a Year After $2.2 Million Transfer

Last year at this time the Allegany County Board of Education approved a $2.2 million transfer from its general fund to cover skyrocketing employee health care costs.  At the time it was the second large transfer of its kind in a seven month windown- further depleting the school system's dwindling cash reserves.  One year later, thanks to a number of steps that have been taken including working with the various union groups- the health care budget is a lot healthier according to finance director Larry McKenzie…
