Update: On June 5, 2019 at 0700 a motorist traveling along the interstate called 911 and reported that they observed a body lying along the roadway in the grassy area under the Monroe Street Bridge which passes over Interstate 68 in Cumberland.
Cumberland Police Officers as well as Cumberland Fire Department units responded and discovered a male deceased in that area. In addition, detectives from the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to investigate along with assistance from the Maryland State Police Crime Lab.
After preliminary investigation it was discovered that the deceased is a 38-year-old man who resided in the Cumberland area. The death appears to be a deliberate act of his own with no foul play suspected. The Cumberland Police Department will not be releasing the name of the deceased.

Cumberland Police Officers as well as Cumberland Fire Department units responded and discovered a white male deceased in that area. Investigation is on-going at this time Cumberland Police, Cumberland Fire, C3I, and Maryland State Highway are on the scene and the Maryland State Medical Examiner and the Maryland State Police Crime Lab is responding to assist.
