BOE Members Await Medical Guidance as Pressure to Reopen Schools Mounts

The Allegany County Board of Education received another COVID-19 update from county health officials last week, but the briefing stopped short of making any specific recommendations about returning kids to the classrooms.  Dr. Jennifer Corder, medical deputy health officer for Allegany and Garrett counties, and Jenelle Mayer, Allegany County Health Department health officer, provided the board with a local COVID-19 health metrics and vaccine update during the board’s December and January meetings. Prior to deciding on the next course of action, board members asked if Corder and Mayer could  provide more specific guidance…
