BoE Missed Deadline To Submit Fiscal Audit To County

For the second time in three years the Allegany County Board of Education has missed a deadline to submit its fiscal audit to the county- a delay that ultimately could see the county penalized by the state. That is one of the key financial matters school board member-elect Robert Farrell says he wants to address as soon as the new board takes office in January. The audit was due to the county October 1st and County Finance Director Jason Bennett confirmed to WCBC News that it has not yet been received, nor has an estimated date for its submission been indicated. Bennett said the state could levy financial penalties if the audits remain incomplete. Farrell tells WCBC News that missing the audit deadline to him is a clear red flag that the board’s financial department is having some issues…
