BoE To Officially Appoint Legal Counsel At Tonight’s Meeting

March 26th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education is expected to officially appointment its legal counsel with a vote during tonight’s regular meeting.  One of the first actions taken by the new board when it took office in January was to fire longtime board attorney Gary Hanna- and name the firm of Geppert, McMullen, Paye and Getty- represented by Mike Llewellyn- as the interim council. Since that time the board advertised for, and received bids from just two law firms: Hanna and the Geppert firm. Interviews are being conducted in closed session and a vote will take place during tonight’s public meeting. There has been a clear divide on the issue of legal counsel among the board members that has played out publicly, with Robert Farrell, Wayne Foote and David Bohn supporting Llewellyn, while members Deb Frank and Tammy Fraley favored retaining Hanna. The issue sparked some debate during that January meeting with Frank clashing with Llewellyn over the question of experience…

The public session is set to begin at 6PM and is being held at the Center for Career and Technical Education near Cresaptown
