BoE Votes To Approve FY 2020 Budget

June 19th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Allegany County Board of Education, by unanimous vote, approved the FY 2019/2020 budget during a special meeting on Tuesday. During last week’s school board meeting, the members were at odds over finalizing the budget, with the majority voting to hold off on a vote until one more session could take place to go over the final numbers. That session lasted less than an hour last night as most of the some 20 budget questions submitted by the board members to the director of finance had apparently been satisfactorily answered prior to the meeting. Board member Deb Frank once again expressed her concern with the process used in finalizing the budget- suggesting it was the inexperience of Board President Robert Farrell that contributed to the delay…

Farrell acknowledged that there has been a learning curve that may have led to a later than normal budget approval- but said his chief objective has been to get it right…

Biggest money pit we have! Allegany County officials should have the right to go in and do a complete audit to see how bad it actually is!
