BOE’s Chief Financial Officer Discusses Impact of Declining Enrollment

Although the Allegany County Public School system saw a decline in student population of more than 200- it won’t have a negative impact on the budget thanks to the governor’s “hold harmless provision”.  The board was among the groups presenting it’s FY 2022 budget request to the County Commissioners this month- and once again the school board is seeking no significant increase in funding. Governor Larry Hogan’s budget this year included $7.5 billion towards K-12 education- part of which will allow schools to be held harmless from declining enrollment figures.
