BREAKING: Over 50 Local Residents Victimized By ATM Scam

December 10th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

Cumberland City Police is reporting that over fifty citizens have filed reports of fraudulent use of their debit/credit cards over the past two days at several Automated Teller Machines in the area.

It is believed that the suspect(s) are altering the machines to record and collect personal information from the users and in turn, obtaining the information and making withdrawals soon afterwards.

Information into this matter is still being gathered at this time by detectives from C3I.  Users of such machines are encouraged to call the police if they notice that the machine they are about to use has been altered.

It might be helpful if the public knew where these scams actually took place- locations of the ATM, banks, businesses, etc. Not mentioning the names and locations of where the crime took place is really silly an undermines the purpose of reporting NEWS in the first place.

It happened to me! The only place I used my pin number at was the ATM at First Peooles FCU in Rose’s Parking lot on Queen City Drive. The thieves withdrew all of my money from Kelco ATM on Greene Street.
