Brodie Defends PACE Reception, Points to Past Funding Deals

Even after more than forty years- the annual PACE Legislative Reception in Annapolis sometimes has an image problem. There are still many who view it as nothing more than a social hour get together held each January to help kick of the General Assembly Session. In reality the reception serves as a big part of what is actually a weeklong series of meetings that has led to millions and millions of dollars in infrastructure funding for western Maryland.  With PACE 2018 just a few weeks away, Allegany County officials are seeking state funding in order to begin work on a three-part, multimillion dollar sewer project that would serve thousands of county residents.  Local officials hope to work toward finalizing the deal when the meet January 25 with representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture — Rural Development, Maryland Department of the Environment and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The meetings will take place prior to the PACE Reception in Annapolis. Allegany County Commission Creade Brodie Jr. says the county’s public works department deserves a great deal of credit for bring these deals together at PACE each year…
