On 03/28/2015 during the early evening hours, Cumberland City Police officers were called to a Browning Street residence in reference to an alleged assault. Upon arrival to the scene officers conducted an investigation into the incident and interviewed a witness and the victim in this case. During this investigation, officers found that a juvenile had been assaulted during this incident and had sustained injuries. The suspect in this case was identified as Ron Claggett Sr., 50, of Cumberland, who had left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. Officers were able to locate Claggett a short time later and he was placed under arrest and charged with the following:
Assault 2nd Degree – 1 count
Claggett was processed at Cumberland Poce headquarters and then taken to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing. Claggett was released on a $5000.00 unsecured bond.
