Buckel Recaps Work on Distribution of Rocky Gap Income

May 18th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Freshman Republican Delegate Jason Buckel told local business leaders that one bill he spent a great deal of time on during his first session in the General Assembly was designed to develop a new way to distribute the state’s portion of gambling income from Rocky Gap Casino Resort as needed. Currently, Buckel says Maryland receives about half of every dollar cleared at the casino with the bulk going to fund educational needs. He says smaller portions splinter off for specific uses such as helping small businesses run by minorities or women- and that such businesses are difficult to find in rural locations such as Allegany County.
