Burglary Suspect Arrested In Mt. Savage

On Wednesday, October 05, 2011, Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) and Troopers from the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack arrested thirty-two (32) year old, Nicholas J. Griffith of Mt. Savage, Maryland in conjunction with a burglary that occurred at a private residence located on Huff Road in Mt. Savage, Maryland.

            On September 24, 2011, the Maryland State Police, Cumberland Barrack initiated the burglary investigation at the private residence on Huff Road.  Force entry was used to gain entry into the residence.  It was determined that U.S. Currency and guns were stolen during the commission of the burglary. A total value loss of over $2,000.00     

            A joint investigation was conducted with the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack and C3I Criminal Investigation Unit.  As a result of the investigation, C3I was able to obtain a search warrant for the residence where Nicholas Griffith resided.  With the assistance of the Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack, the search warrant was served Wednesday afternoon. The search of the residence resulted in the recovery of one of the guns reported stolen by the victim.  Nicholas Griffith was at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed and was arrested for the burglary. 

Griffith was charged with 1st Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Theft and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  Upon complete of processing, Griffith will be taken before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.
