Busy Friday for City Police

On February 21, 2014, Cumberland City Police Department served an arrest warrant on David Lee Kesler Jr., age 22 of Cumberland, Maryland.   On February 19, 2014, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to 1512 Oldtown Manor apartment C for an assault complaint.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Kesler assaulted a female victim by tackling her and later breaking her cell phone when she attempted to call 911.  Before leaving the residence, Kesler stole items belonging to the victim.  Kesler was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing.  Kesler was released on $3,500 unsecured bond.


Arrested: David Lee Kesler Jr.                                  Age: 22 of Cumberland, Maryland

Charges: Assault 2nd, Theft less than $100 and Malicious Destruction of property.


CDS Arrest

On February 21, 2014 officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center located at 12500 Willowbrook Road to assist staff with a patient attempting to leave the facility.  When officers arrived they located the female patient and her friend, Wesley Eugene Baker 2nd.  As officers were speaking with both subjects they observed Baker drop a cellophane baggie between his legs.  Officers retrieved the baggie and examined its contents.  The baggie was found to contain several pills that were later identified as a scheduled narcotic.  Baker was arrested at the scene and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Baker was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners Office for a bond hearing.  Baker was released on his own personal recognizance.

Arrested: Wesley Eugene Baker 2nd                           Age: 35 of Cumberland, Maryland

Charge: CDS possession other than marijuana.




Criminal Summons Served

On February 21, 2014, Cumberland City Police served a criminal summons on Scott Howard Clifford, age 48 of Cumberland, Maryland.   The summons was issued after two citizens applied for charges alleging they were assaulted on February 9, 2014 at a Greene Street residence by Clifford.  Clifford was served and released pending his trial date in District Court.

Charges: Two counts of 2nd Degree Assault

Cumberland city police responded to a Virginia Avenue business Friday morning at 11:20 due to a shoplifting complaint.  Kimberly Ann Troutman, 46, of Cumberland, was arrested and charged with theft.  City police also arrested 49 year old Anthony Scott Armstrong of Cumberland on Friday.  Armstrong was charged with violating conditions of his probation.
