C3I Issues Statement On Mount Savage Middle School Threat Allegations

On Monday evening, 04/03/2017, a concerned citizen contacted the Maryland State Police barrack in LaVale to report suspicious activity on social media that involved a student and possible threats against Mt. Savage Middle School. The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was contacted and Investigators responded to assist in the investigation.

Troopers and Investigators conducted numerous interviews, which included making contact with the student and family members. The photos and videos that had been posted by the student were also reviewed. The investigation revealed that there had never been a direct threat against the school, and that the students and staff at the school were never in danger.

The findings of the investigation were reviewed with the Allegany County State's Attorney's Office and it was determined that the student had not violated any laws. The incident is being referred to the Allegany County Board of Education for further administrative action.
