C3I Releases Photo Of M &T Bank Robber

On Monday, 04/16/2018, at 9:04 AM, the Cumberland Police responded to the M&T Bank, located in Rose's Plaza in Cumberland, after a hold up alarm was received from that location. The first arriving officers learned that a lone male suspect had entered the bank, approached a teller, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the teller. The teller complied with the demand and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then exited the bank and fled the area on foot.

The Cumberland Police, with assistance from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office, the Maryland State Police, and a Maryland State Police K-9, searched the area, but the suspect was not located at that time.

Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Through interviews Investigators learned that the suspect entered the bank just as it was opening for business.

The suspect is a white male, wearing a dark blue hoodie under a dark colored jacket, dark colored pants, and gloves. The suspect was wearing what is believed to be a fake grayish colored beard, dark sunglasses, and had the hood from the hoodie pulled up around his face, all to try to disguise his identity.

Investigators continue to interview possible witnesses and review surveillance video from the bank and nearby businesses.

If callers wish to remain anonymous, they can call the Allegany/Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300, where callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1500.00 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

 

            The investigation is continuing by the Cumberland Police and C3I.
