Canal Place Director: River Park Plan Moving Forward, Albeit Slowly

Officials with Canal Place last week said that despite the Coronavirus pandemic halting much of its momentum, talks are continuing and plans are moving forward for the proposed river park behind the Western Maryland Railway Station. Known as the River Park at Canal Place, the attraction is expected to feature walking trails, parking, kayak and canoe docks, a spectator viewing area and a whitewater course in the North Branch of the Potomac River.  Dee Dee Ritchie, Canal Place executive director, had been working toward developing a total price tag for the river park as well as looking at engineering designs  and time frames when things came to a halt back in March.
