Candidates Discuss Relationship with School Board at Forum

All five candidates for Allegany County Commissioner participated Tuesday night in the candidate forum sponsored by WCBC Radio and the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce.  The candidates were asked for their views on the relationship between the board of commissioners and the Allegany County Board of Education.  Democratic challenger Tom Striplin said having a fruitful relationship with the school board is a top priority.





Incumbent Bill Valentine said that tweaking the maintenance of effort formula would be beneficial.

Challenger Kevin Shaffer promised full cooperation with the school board.

Incumbent Creade Brodie said that the relationship with the school board is not as poor as some believe.

Challenger Jake Shade said the relationship is damaged at this point.
