I think this will give us a rather good idea of how employees at the bakery are treated.

Actually, I personally know a handful of Caporale’s Bakery employees. And they are treated quite well. Thank you!

I strongly feel the proposed increase from the current national minimum wage of $7.25 to $15/hr (207% increase) will adversely impact small businesses. Owners may be forced to reduce the number of employees in order to stay afloat. Additionally, it is anticipated there may be an increase in the cost of goods to offset employee wages, which will then be passed onto the consumer. In conclusion, there may be less small businesses in operation, as a result of the minimum wage increase. And does it stop there? Will there be another proposed 200% wage hike in 5, 10 or 15 years down the road?

Those who are FOR raising the minimum wage, should consider the following – Negative Effects of Raising Minimum Wage in America: 1) fewer jobs are created with higher minimum wages; 2)raising the minimum wage does not reduce poverty; 3) teens will struggle to find summer jobs; 4) minimum wage jobs are a stepping stone; and 5) raising the minimum wage increases inflation (2/22/2019).

Increasing the minimum wage has not proven to be effective at lowering the overall poverty rate in America. According to economists at the Federal Reserve Board and the University of California-Irvine, research shows that a higher minimum wage reduces employment for those with the least amount of skills and has little to no effect on poverty rates. There is little to no relationship between higher minimum wage and reductions in overall poverty levels in America (The Negative Effects of Raising Minimum Wage in America, 2/22/2019).

When will the cost of living be addressed in this country. If you raise wages, prices will increase.
