Cardin Comments on Successes of VA Legislation

U.S. Veterans Administration Secretary David Shulkin said this week that improving the VA’s health-care system for veterans is one area where Congress and the Trump administration are scoring some successes. But, he added, solving the “pretty significant problems” of the system will take some time. Sen. Jon Tester, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, said Congress and President Trump have enacted five bills this year dealing with VA health care, including ones to protect whistle-blowers within the VA, enable the VA to more easily get rid of bad employees, and streamline to appeals process for veterans seeking disability status. Maryland U.S. Senator Ben Cardin is the ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and told local veterans recently that they have been neglected for far too long- and it’s time for a change…
