On Saturday U.S. Senator Ben Cardin will take part in multiple public events in and around Cumberland and Frostburg, Md.
At 10:30 AM, Senator Cardin will host a town hall meeting at Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland. The senator will provide updates on priority issues for Marylanders currently being debated in Congress and take questions from audience members.

At 12:00 PM, Senator Cardin will highlight recent federal investments in infrastructure, safety and economic development at Cumberland Regional Airport in Wiley Ford, W. Va. Specifically, the senator will help celebrate a recent Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant of $30,000 to the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority for the Autonomous Technology Center Feasibility Study project, which seeks to evaluate the region’s potential as a hub for the production of unmanned and robotic vehicles.

At 1:30 PM, Senator Cardin will join leaders of Frostburg State University and local elected officials to underscore the importance of ARC funding for regional educational and economic progress. The senator will spotlight a prime recent example – a $25,000 ARC grant to help support the opening a university-based office of economic development that will serve the three ARC counties of western Maryland. The new program will be known as the Office of Regional Development and Engagement and is designed to integrate university resources with regional partners in Western Maryland to help communities and companies be competitive and meet the challenges of economic and community development.
