Carroll County Ships Inmates to Allegany County

A spokesperson for the Carroll County Detention Center said that 16 inmates had to be transferred to the Allegany County facility from  Carroll County. The Sheriff's Office says the problem is the jail is overcrowded with female inmates.  According to a release, the detention center was designed to house 28 female inmates and that number was 54 before 15 females were transferred to the Allegany County Detention Center in Cresaptown.  The Carroll County warden asked for funding to the tune of $246,000 to pay Allegany County to keep the inmates there.
