Cathy Coughenour Situation Remains An Issue

September 21st, 2011 by WCBC Radio

The newly upgraded Heritage Parklet area officially opened this past weekend as a welcome center for tourists- however many city residents believe one existing problem has yet to be addressed. Cathy Coughenour, who calls herself “residence free” as opposed to homeless, has essentially resided at the parklet for many years- routinely keeping her belongings there, and often times sleeping there. Despite numerous efforts by the city council to establish policies and regulations that prohibit such habits, Coughenour has continued to reside at the parklet and has said she has no plans to vacate. Several callers to WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” Tuesday called it an embarrassing situation for the city…

Embarrissing????? This has been going on too long. Over the years she has been OFFERED housing and help and has continued to EMBARRIS the town of Cumberland. While our tax dollars pay for the city to look nice, she trashes it up with all her stuff. It’s time the city council or WHOEVER get off there @****! Why bother put money into places like the parklets if people are going to be allowed to trash them up.Let her be “residence free” somewhere else in the city where tax payers and tourists don’t have to see her “stuff”.

not as embarrassing as three bank robberies in broaddaylight while Cumberland’s Finest sit on Queen City Drive and nab some poor sucker busting ass five miles over the speed limit to go to five or six places to get what he wants because of the lack of one-stop shopping in this once-proud town.

I’m sorry, but Cathy, also known as, “The bag lady”, is as part of this town as everyone else. Anyone remember Polly?? The sweet homeless woman who could be found looking for cigg butts?
I remember whan I was little sitting and talking to her and I learned SO much from that woman! And the same with Cathy. I’ve got news for Cumberland: People aren’t coming here anymore. We used to be a nice place to visit, but everything went down hill. Get use to it. And leave Cathy alone.
