CDC Names Maryland State with Lowest COVID Numbers

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Maryland is the state with the lowest new COVID-19 case rate in the country, but state health officials say they still need to do a lot of work. Booster shots and getting more people vaccinated  now head the priority-  nine months after vaccines became available. Maryland Department of Health Secretary Dennis Schrader provided a general COVID vaccination update this week and said that while nursing home rates are getting better- not every facility has gotten on board…

Another big area of concern are kids. The zero to 19 age group has seen the highest increase in cases recently. Schrader said they hope to work with schools to vaccinate eligible kids age 12 to 17 and was asked repeatedly about mandating COVID-19 vaccination for public school kids.
