The CEDC needs an incubator then maybe they will stop coming up with these half baked ideas like the Baltimore Street destruction/renovation.

The city needs to keep title to this property. If the company that locates there ever wants to expand out to larger quarters – OUTSIDE of the city (and they will!) the building should return to the city, NOT the CEDC for re-use. The CEDC has yet to complete a project for the city as it seeks to expand into a regional authority with more power residing with Paul Kelly who is not the sharpest guy to do this. If it is going to be done hire a professional who has trained to work with economic development – not a lawyer who got out of private practice. He is a non-starter.

Entrepreneur the dreaded code word for some hipster retailer selling free-range wind chimes or kale and quinoa scented organic candles.
CEDC is looking to fill those empty stores downtown and they want some of that ilk to do so.
No one else will utilize that building. It will be more of the same; some low paying, part time, non benefit jobs to serve as a hobby job for the entrepreneur.
It fits in well with the hoped for artiste colony in the arts and entertainment district.
The city can’t survive on art and entertainment alone. That’s what people do after work.
