CEDC Executive Director Kelly Issues Statement on Departure

June 25th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

WCBC received the following statement after requesting comment from Paul Kelly of the CEDC:

"In 2017, I viewed the vacant Executive Director position as a tremendous opportunity for me to help our community and its various partners fashion and implement plans to strengthen our local economy.  I decided to temporarily leave my law practice of 20 years and my real estate development company, and I committed to a three (3) year tenure as Executive Director.  I have attempted to the very best of my ability to serve as a responsible fiduciary to the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, the CEDC Board, and the citizens of our region.  The work was hard but rewarding on many levels, and I want to thank the many contributors to the CEDC efforts during my tenure.  I sincerely believe that the CEDC and its partners are working on plans, both small and large, that will positively impact our community in very material ways.  The fruits of those labors are not always highly visible or publicized, nor are they immediately realized.  I have every confidence that the positive work will continue in my absence and that much brighter economic days are ahead for the City.  It is my intent to facilitate a smooth transition to a new director and, as needed, serve as a continuing resource to the CEDC.  Again, I sincerely appreciate having been given this opportunity."
