The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation on Tuesday is expected to officially approve a contract with a developer for the former Memorial Hospital property. Cumberland City officials last April agreed to transfer ownership of the property on Memorial Avenue to the CEDC with plans for the location expected to involve construction of a housing development- specifically market rate residential housing. Located in South Cumberland the hospital was vacated in 2009 with the opening of a new hospital on Willowbrook road. The former hospital structure was demolished in 2015 leaving in 8 acre track that included a 300 space parking garage still intact at the South end of the property. Details have been scarce since the property transfer- something Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss, a member of the CEDC board, says is not unusual with economic development projects…
