Citizens Opposed To Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm Project To Attend Maryland Public Service Commission Hearing

February 19th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Citizens opposed to the proposed Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm project are expected to make their voices heard when the Maryland Public Service Commission considers the application at a March 4th hearing in Baltimore. The  Allegany Neighbors and Citizens for Home Owners Rights Limited who oppose a plan to place 17 wind turbines on Dan’s Mountain has been fighting the wind farm project since the issue first surfaced in 2015. The project calls for turbines to be built on the ridgeline of Dan’s Mountain near the communities of Midland and the Harwood Subdivision, along with Vale Summit, Cresaptown and Bel Air. The project was denied by the Allegany County Board of Zoning Appeals in 2015, however, through an appeals process, a state court sent the case back to Allegany County in 2019. In October, a new group of zoning board members approved the project in a 2-1 vote.  Darlene Park, ANCHOR president, places much of the blame for this project remaining viable on the County Commissioners. While Commissioners Shade, Caporale and Brodie all maintain the county has been neutral throughout and have no actual say on the project- Park says the commissioners manipulated the process when they appointed a new board of Zoning Appeals…

Anywhere else Ms. Parks would be the kooky old neighbor, except in Allegany County she’s managed to get a group fired up over accepted technology that to my understanding everyone within 2000feet has agree to. However I do like her legal opinions that say we can ignore the state court of appeals when we feel like it

I’m surprised that Ms. Parks isn’t directing her expertise toward cleaning up Carlos. If the Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm Project bothers her, Carlos has to infuriate her beyond all reason.
