City Administrator Urging Caution With Talks Continuing Regarding CEDC Handling Economic Development For County

September 23rd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

With Allegany County continuing talks that could lead to the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation handling economic development for the county- Cumberland’s city administrator is urging all parties to proceed with caution and make absolutely certain the right structure is in place. Indications are that the CEDC is likely to remain an independent entity that will handle both city and county business recruitment and economic expansion. Calling on his experience with previous efforts- administrator Jeff Rhodes- during a work session that included CEDC officials- said it is vitally important to do this right.  He pointed to an earlier attempt in the 1980s when an independent economic development entity was active. That did not end well as there were charges of impropriety…

What has the CEDC does so far, can someone list all of their accomplishments? It seems like they are in it for PERSONAL gain only, what we used to call “scammers”

In todays world it is dog eat dog. It used to be, “The Buck Stops Here”, NOW it’s “Pass The Buck” !!! Hey we all want to become better off and increase our wealth. As a public figure you are appointed, voted in, or volunteer to your very best for the public, morally, ethically, and honestly. Here ends the sermon for today.

Why should the taxpayers of Allegany County have to pay for the failed efforts of the CEDC? Leave them be a separate entity and make them show proven results.

With city paying the CEDC $540,000 a year and then they work for the county. Just great. If you them in the Kelly Rd. complex they will work for the county. Plain and simple. Why do you think our president Donald Trump gets out of Washington DC’s swamp whenever possible.
